Georgia passed a resolution against Madhyamam Hinduphobia

Washington: The US state of Georgia has passed a resolution against Hinduphobia. This is the first time an American state has passed a resolution against Hinduphobia. The decision condemning Hindu also comes against anti-Hindu bigotry.

According to the decision, Hinduism is the largest and oldest religion in the world, believed in by 1.2 billion people. The religion has followers in over 100 countries. The resolution says that Hinduism includes all people with different traditions and beliefs and maintains respect and peace.

The motion was proposed by Lauren McDonald and Todd Jones. Both are representatives from the Forsyth area in Georgia. Georgia’s largest Hindu community lives in this region. The Hindu community in America has made significant contributions in the fields of health care, science, engineering, information technology, hospitality, finance, manufacturing, energy and retail. They have also made their presence felt in yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, food and music.

Crimes against American Hindus have been reported over the past decades. The decision also accuses some academics of promoting and instilling Hinduphobia. They portray the holy books and cultural order of Hinduism as violent and oppressive, the decision said.

Earlier, Democratic and Republican representatives participated in the program organized by the Hindu community in the capital of Georgia. The program was organized with the objectives of protecting Hindus from discrimination and giving importance to the voice of Hindus in legislation.
