A 3.5-inch “GKD mini Plus” mobile game machine with a detachable analog joystick will start crowdfunding on Kickstarter soon.
There are two types: the GKD mini Plus (classic), which looks like a Game Boy with a joystick, and the smaller GKD mini Plus.
“GKD mini Plus” has an optional part called “mini dock”.
This is a type of joystick that attaches to the bottom USB-C port of “GKD mini Plus”.
If you attach this as shown below, it will transform into an integrated joystick like the “GKD mini Plus (classic)”.
When you remove the “mini dock”, it becomes a small game machine with a very small controller and more than half of the screen as shown below.
The specifications are a 3.5-inch display (640 x 480), 1GB RAM, Rockchip RK3566 SoC (Cortex-A55 x4), 3,000mAh battery, and two microSD card slots.
GameKiddy’s custom OS is installed on the OS, and multiple hardware emulators are also pre-installed, which is familiar for this type of game engine.
The retail price is a little high at $278 (about 39,000 yen), and it will be a little cheaper with the early bird discount on Kurafan.
