Golf Times mobile site, Australian Korean Soo-hyun Oh wins Australian Women’s PGA Championship


[골프타임즈=문정호 기자] Oh Soo-hyeon (25), a Korean Australian who is active on the LPGA (American Women’s Professional Golf) Tour, won the Australian Women’s Professional Golf Tour Major Tournament 2022 Fortinet Australia WPGA Championship.

On the 16th, at the Royal Queensland GC (par 71) in Queensland, Australia, in the final round of the tournament, Oh Soo-hyeon shot 3-under 68 and finished with a final total of 10-under 274 (66-72-68-68).


Oh Soo-hyun, who won the championship by four strokes over Australian Korean Grace Kim, won 150 million won in prize money and achieved two professional victories.

This is the first tournament this year, and it is the biggest major tournament in the Australian Women’s Professional Golf Tour since the 2020 Corona 19. The championship was held in the name of Australian legend Carrie Webb, who was inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame.

The winner of the tournament, Oh Soo-hyeon, was the recipient of the Carry Webb Scholarship as a junior and became the owner of the first Carry Webb Championship Cup.

Born in Busan, Oh Soo-hyeon immigrated to Australia at the age of 9 and is a 7-year player on the LPGA Tour, representing Australia in international competitions such as the 2016 Rio Olympics.


After turning professional in 2015 (at the age of 18), she received attention as a star by winning the second LET (European Women’s Professional Golf Tour) RACV Ladies Masters. After that, they did not get any clear results, but with this win as an opportunity, they are expecting good results on this year’s LPGA Tour.

Soo-Hyun Oh will participate in the Gainbridge Championship and Drive-On Championship on the LPGA Tour to be held in Florida, USA next week.
