While the sports channel “DAZN” will raise the price from February 22, 2022, the NTT DoCoMo version of “DAZN for docomo” will continue to be 1,925 yen (tax included) per month as before.
DAZN Japan officially announced the first price revision after launch on Tuesday, 25th. The monthly plan will be changed to 3,000 yen (tax included), which is an increase of 1,075 yen (tax included), and the one-month free trial will end on February 21st.
However, it was announced that “DAZN for docomo”, which has no difference other than that the contact point is DoCoMo, such as distribution contents and viewing devices, is “not applicable”.
What does “not applicable” mean? What is “not covered”?
When this site confirmed with DoCoMo, we received a reply that there is no plan to raise the price on February 22, 2022. In other words, the monthly charge of 1,925 yen (tax included) will continue to be unchanged. Also, free trials will continue to be offered.
This is good news for fans who enjoy F1, soccer, and professional baseball at DAZN, but at least the price will not be raised on February 22nd, and the new price will be applied to “DAZN for docomo”. Would be a matter of time.
We understand that the price will not be revised at least before the opening of F1 in March, but we also think that it is inevitable that the price will be raised at some point.
“DAZN for docomo” revised the price on October 1, 2020. Initially, it was offered at a special price of 980 yen (tax excluded) per month, but it was changed to 1,925 yen (tax included), which is the same as the original DAZN.
However, for existing users who have contracted by September 30 of the same year, the service continues to be provided for 980 yen per month.
At first glance, “DAZN for docomo” seems to be a service limited to docomo users, but it is not. Even if you are not a doCoMo user, you can legally apply if you have a “d account” that you can get for free.
A total of 23 races are planned for F1 in the 2022 season when next-generation vehicles will be introduced, starting in Bahrain on March 20th and ending in Abu Dhabi on November 20th. The on-season period is nine months.
The “annual plan (one-time payment)”, which is the cheapest monthly cost in the original DAZN, is 27,000 yen (tax included). If you use the “DAZN Unlimited Use Pack” for KDDI’s cheap plan “povo” users, which is offered for 760 yen for 7 days, 760 x 23 = 17,480 yen (tax included). If you sign up for “DAZN for docomo” for 9 months, the charge will be 17,325 yen (tax included).
Even if it is the head family DAZN, if you apply for the “annual plan” of the old plan before raising the price, you can keep it to 19,250 yen (tax included) per year.
