On the 6th (local time), Google introduced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which are Android reference phones, and the Pixel Watch, its first smartwatch.
Google unveiled the new Pixel series for the first time at the ‘Made by Google’ event at National Sodust, a live venue in Brooklyn, New York City, USA on the same day.
Rick Osterlo, Google’s senior vice president of devices and services, who was the first presenter, said, “Pixel devices help users by combining core technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Android, and Google Tensor (a system-on-chip designed in independent from Google). We’re going to create an environment like this.”
“The Pixel will not be just a mobile phone, it will provide a personalized, intelligent and connected computing experience,” said Austerlo, vice president of Google’s hardware division.
The newly developed second generation tensor chip has been applied to enable the latest AI machine learning and voice recognition, live translation and voice-assisted typing, as well as much improved picture quality, and film-quality video recording, Google explained.
It can also remove blur from photos taken in the past, and the ‘True Tone’ function that accurately reproduces skin tone has been improved compared to the Pixel 6.
With a triple camera on the back, the Pixel 7 Pro features a 5x telephoto lens, a 30x super-mini zoom lens, and an upgraded ultra-wide-angle lens for macro focus that sharpens even the smallest subjects .
Battery saver mode gives you up to 72 hours of use on a single charge.
The price is set at $599 for the Pixel 7 and $899 for the Pixel 7 Pro, respectively, and there was no mention of plans for overseas markets such as Korea.
In Korea, there have been rumors that Google will launch the Pixel series in the Korean market, but an official said that nothing has been decided yet.
At this event, Google’s first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, was unveiled for the first time and drew attention.
