State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell said, ‘Sports have decreased due to the decrease in the number of fields in the country. The government is constructing 186 mini stadiums in different districts and upazilas to make the youth society a playground. Besides, mini stadium work will start in 151 more upazilas. So that the youth society and the young generation get out of drug and mobile addiction and return to the playground.
On Saturday (January 04, 2023), State Minister Zahid Ahsan Russell said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium in Amzhupi village of Meherpur Sadar Upazila.
Regarding the creation of a fair environment for the players in the country, the State Minister for Youth and Sports said, ‘We have 53 registered event federations and associations. They are playing an important role in advancing the sports world of the country.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain MP presided over the ceremony of laying the foundation stone and unveiling the plaque. He said, ‘Our Mujibnagar is named after Bangabandhu. We are residents of that Mujibnagar i.e. Meherpur. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working hard to decorate our Meherpur. Not only Meherpur, he is working tirelessly to advance Bangladesh in all aspects.’
Among others, the Deputy Commissioner spoke at the event. Mohammad Munsur Alam Khan, Superintendent of Police. Rafiul Alam, Gangni Upazila Parishad Chairman and District Awami League Secretary MA Khalek, Sadar Upazila Awami League President and Amzhupi Union Chairman Borhan Uddin Ahmed Chunnu.
General Secretary and Chairman of Baradi Union Mominul Islam, Buripota Union Chairman Shah Zaman, Shyampur Union Chairman Matiur Rahman Matin, Qutubpur Union Chairman Salim Reza and others were present.
The contract price for the construction of the mini stadium is Tk 20 crore 9 lakh 91 thousand. Which is implemented by E-Engineering Limited.
