The central government has rejected the Congress demand for a bill to repeal agricultural laws. The Advisory Council meeting decided that there was no need for discussion as the Prime Minister had announced that the law would be withdrawn. With the onset of the winter session, the Opposition started protesting in the Lok Sabha, raising farmers’ issues. The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon as the protest continued despite the Speaker’s warning to abide by the rules of the House. The Prime Minister, who met the media before the House proceedings, had said that the government was ready to discuss any issue. He indirectly criticized the opposition protests, saying that decisions in the House would be in line with the will of the people. The Prime Minister said that the members should not give up their respect for the Leader of the House. Meanwhile, the government has started taking action against those who protested in the Rajya Sabha during the monsoon session.
