Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece ‘Mona Lisa’ on display at the Louvre in Paris, France, was attacked by a cake.
On the 30th (local time), multiple foreign media, including CNN broadcast, reported that the day before, a man disguised as a grandmother tried to damage the Mona Lisa.
According to reports, the man with his face painted white and wearing a wig and hat entered the museum in a wheelchair.
Heading to the disabled seat on the other side of the exhibition hall, he abruptly got up from his wheelchair and rushed towards the Mona Lisa.
The man initially tried to break the bulletproof glass surrounding the Mona Lisa. But when Yuri didn’t budge, he buried the cake he was holding and made it into cream.

The man also scattered roses on the floor of the exhibition hall. He is known to have shouted “Think of the Earth” in French while being arrested and taken away by the security forces. After that, the security guard quickly wiped the cake off the bulletproof glass, but many spectators had already filmed it. The appearance of the Mona Lisa with the cake is spreading on social network services (SNS).
An official from the museum said, “The work was not damaged thanks to bulletproof glass.” “We are investigating the exact motive for the crime against the man.”

On the other hand, the Mona Lisa has been displayed with 4cm thick bulletproof glass after a sulfuric acid attack by a man in 1956.
But even after that, the humiliation continued. During the Tokyo exhibition in 1974, a visitor dissatisfied with the museum’s policy of visiting the museum sprayed red paint, and in 2004, a Russian woman who did not receive French citizenship threw a porcelain mug at a blow.
