Grant in Hurdles ; American trio in shot put | Sports | Deshabhimani

America made history at the World Athletics Championships. Became the first country to win all the top three positions in men’s shot put. Two-time Olympic champion Ryan Grouser won the gold (22.94). Joe Kovacs (22.89) won the silver and Josh Outunde (22.29) the bronze. All three medals in the men’s 100m went to the United States.

America’s Grant Holloway retained gold after dramatic events in the men’s 110m hurdles. Jamaica’s Olympic champion Hans Le Parthent pulled out with an injury just before the race. Devon Allen, who is currently ranked second in the world and the star of the American football team Philadelphia Eagles, was also out for a foul start. USA’s Trey Cunningham won silver. Bronze goes to Acier Martinez of Spain.

America shines in women’s pole vault. Katie Nagiotti won gold and Sandy Morris won silver. America’s Brooke Andersen wins gold in women’s hammer throw. Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei topped the men’s 10,000m. Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola became the champion in the marathon.
