The police launched an internal investigation into the Free North Korea Movement Coalition, a North Korean defector group that said it had distributed 1 million North Korean flyers to the North.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s security investigation team is investigating Park Sang-hak, the head of the Free North Korea Movement Coalition, who allegedly flew North Korean flyers in the border area of ​​Gimpo, Gyeonggi-do.

The Federation for Free North Korean Movement announced yesterday that on the 25th and 26th, 1 million North Korean flyers containing pictures of the elected Yun Seok-yeol were hung on 20 large balloons and sent to North Korea.

The leaflet released by this organization that it had been blown up had a photo of Yoon Seok-yeol printed along with phrases such as “Long live a free Republic of Korea, the only homeland of 80 million peoples” or “Great country in which a prosecutor became the leader, President Yun Seok-yeol of the Republic of Korea”.

They insisted, “We will continue to send out letters of freedom and hope, facts and truth, waiting for 20 million North Korean compatriots to overthrow Kim Jong-un’s hereditary dictatorship as soon as possible.”

The police said, “We are checking the facts about the location, time, and people involved in the spread of North Korean flyers.”

According to the current Inter-Korean Relations Development Act, anyone who harms the lives and bodies of South Koreans by flying flyers or broadcasting through loudspeakers toward the North from a location adjacent to the Military Demarcation Line is punishable by imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine of not more than 30 million won.
