DAVOS, Switzerland (Reuters) – Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg will meet International Energy Agency (IEA) Director General Birol on Thursday in Davos, Switzerland. Organizers of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting held here in Davos told Reuters.

The IEA could not be reached for comment.

Greta was taken into custody by the police during a protest over a coal mine near the village of Lützerath in the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the 17th. Greta, who was later released, tweeted: “Yesterday, while taking part in a peaceful demonstration against the expansion of a coal mine in Germany, I was surrounded and detained by the police along with other participants and was released at night. Change in the climate. It is not a crime to protect them.”

Former Vice President of the United States Gore, who is in Davos, approved Greta’s work in Germany, saying that the climate change crisis is worsening faster than the world is coping.
