“Many people start asking themselves how to wake up the powers, but let’s be clear, they’re awake. They knew exactly what they were doing. The leader did nothing. They are actively creating vulnerabilities. for my own benefit.” Greta Thunberg said
Her speech came after attendees spoke about the success of the first week. A series of climate vows were announced at this meeting. This includes a commitment to deforestation. Coal Agreement and plans to halt public finance investment in fossil fuel projects abroad.
But several youth activist groups in Glasgow have called for tougher commitments. Thousands of protesters blocked city streets. Along with holding signs warning of the effects of rising temperatures and extreme weather events.
