President Moon Jae-in, who is visiting Rome, Italy to attend the G20 summit, was absent from the group photo shoot on the 31st (local time).

The G20 leaders gathered in front of the Trevi Fountain, a tourist attraction in Rome, for a group photo this morning. The G20 host country leader Mario Draghi, Italian Prime Minister, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were in attendance. The leaders who attended also tossed ‘lucky coins’ at the fountain.

President Moon, who was originally scheduled to attend, did not appear. US President Joe Biden and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi were also absent.

The Blue House said, “It was a schedule for a walk between the summits and not a mandatory participation schedule. During that time, President Moon concentrated on preparing for the second session.” President Moon is scheduled to speak at the ‘Climate Change and Environment’ session on the same day. The Blue House said, “No,” as to whether the South Korea-US summit had been held.
