The BCCI has responded to reports that halal food has been made compulsory for Indian cricketers. BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has said that the requirement of halal food has not been put forward. It was reported that halal was made mandatory in the food menu of the first Test between India and New Zealand in Kanpur.

Arun Dhumal said that the stars are free to eat whatever they like and no guidelines have been put forward regarding the diet of the stars. His response was in an interview with India Today.

It was reported that halal meat has been made mandatory in a new diet plan launched as part of ensuring nutrition for athletes. With this, there were many posts in the media on social media against the BCCI.
