(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Gyeong-yoon = right-handed pitcher Jang Si-hwan (35), a professional baseball free agent (FA), signed a contract with the original team, the Hanwha Eagles.

Hanwha said on the 22nd, “We signed a contract with Jang Si-hwan for 3 years and he earned a total of 930 million (down payment 150 million, total annual salary earned 630 million, option earned 150 million).”

The Hanwha club said, “Jan Si-hwan has experience and ability, and is an indispensable player for our team.”

Jang Si-hwan is the 4th free agent signed in this Stove League and the first player to stay in the original team.

Before Jang Si-hwan, bullpen veteran Won Jong-hyeon (Kiwoom Heroes), catcher Yoo Kang-nam (Lotte Giants), and catcher Park Dong-won (LG Twins) found a new team.

After transferring from Lotte to Hanwha via trade in 2019, Jang Si-hwan played a big role in the selection and bullpen.

This season, he played in 64 games and recorded 5 losses, 9 holds, 14 saves, and a 4.38 ERA.

After signing the contract, Jang Si-hwan promised, “I will faithfully play my role as a veteran as there are many young players who have great potential to develop in Hanwha.”

Jang Si-hwan is also famous as the player who holds the record for the most consecutive losses in history. He suffered 18 solo losses from NC on September 27, 2020, and tied for first place with Shim Soo-chang (retired) for the most consecutive losses. If you add 1 loss, you will write a new record.
