Hate attacks on the rise, warning: India Warns Students In Canada | Hate Crimes | Anti-Indian Activities of Foreign Ministry

New Delhi ∙ The Ministry of External Affairs has issued a warning to Indian citizens in Canada and students going to study there. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has said that hate attacks are on the rise in Canada and there is a need to be vigilant against it.

“Anti-Indian activities and racist attacks are on the rise in Canada. The attackers have not yet been brought to justice. India has demanded strong action. Those going to Canada for travel and education and those living there should exercise caution,” the Ministry of External Affairs said. More than three percent of Canada’s population is of Indian origin.

The ministry’s warning comes amid controversies surrounding a pro-Khalistan referendum in Canada demanding a separate Sikh state. The spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, said the other day that terrorists are behind the plebiscite and that such actions are completely offensive in a friendly country.
