Karachi: England won by six wickets in the first T20 against Pakistan. After losing the toss, Pakistan scored 158 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated over. In reply, England managed to overcome the target with the loss of just four wickets in 19.2 overs. England’s top scorer is Alex Hales who scored 53 runs off 40 balls. Harry Brook, who remained unbeaten on 42 runs off 25 balls, made a crucial contribution.

England lost the first wicket of Philip Salt (10). Then David Malan (20 off 15 balls) also returned. Ben Duckett (21) could not stay at the crease for long. Later, Hales saved England from collapse by joining Brook. Both added 55 runs. Hales returned but by then England were close to victory. Moeen Ali (7) remained unbeaten. Usman Qadir took two wickets for Pakistan. With this, England took a 1-0 lead in the seven-match series.

Earlier, England captain, Moeen Ali won the toss and elected to bowl. Muhammad Rizwan’s batting (68 off 46 balls) was the only consolation for Pakistan who opened the innings. Babar Azam (31) and Iftikhar Ahmed (28) also performed well. Hyder Ali (11), Shan Masood (7), Mohammad Nawaz (4) and Naseem Shah (0) are the other players out. Khushdil Shah (5) and Usman Qadir (0) were not out.
