Health intoxication is not intoxication | Deshabhimani

This is a period when the use of intoxicating substances including drugs increases in society and is discussed extensively. Actions and awareness against these remain strong. This is an issue that requires extreme vigilance and social interaction.

Deadly drunkenness comes to us in many names, forms and ways. Especially targeting school and college students. Beyond smoking and alcohol, cannabis, MDMA, cocaine, LSD and many other intoxicants are ten times more dangerous.

hallucinogens

Hallucinogens are chemicals that can instantly change our thoughts and moods. Dangerous cannabis, MDMA (Methylenedioxy-methylamphetamine) and LSD (Lysergic Acid diethylamide) fall under the hallucinogenic category. A deadly drug called MDMA is now spreading globally. Drugs like MDMA are chemicals that can literally ruin a person’s life. This object was first discovered in 1912 in Germany. It was originally used as a medicine to reduce bleeding. In 1914, the pharmaceutical company Merck obtained the patent. In the 1950s, the American spy agency CIA experimented with MDMA as part of their ‘Project MK Ultra’ to ‘control’ the human mind and thereby weaponize subjects. Dr. Brenner and his team led the way. However, it caused many physical problems in those who tried it. Many people died.

In the 1980s, they were widely used in parties in the United States, but as part of the ‘War on Drugs’, they were classified as ‘Schedule 1’ and banned. It increases serotonin production in the brain and leads to excessive pleasure during those times. However, with continued use, the level of serotonin in the body decreases and leads to depression. So it slowly destroys the brain and kidney cells. It eventually leads to death.

Cannabis

Smoking cannabis causes breathing problems. Hydrogen cyanide and ammonia reach the lungs through their smoke. These seriously affect lung functions. They also contain chemicals that cause cancer. It also affects the circulatory system. After using these, our heart rate can increase by 20 to 50 percent within a few minutes. It can last up to three hours. This can put more stress on the heart and lead to a heart attack. Moreover, overproduction of the dopamine hormone can even damage the central nervous system.

Drunk addiction

Drugs can enslave the mind and body at the same time. It will turn you into a hardcore addict on first use. Addiction is a brain disease. There is a channel in the brain called the Pleasure Pathway. There is pleasure when the hormone ‘dopamine’ is released. These substances dominate this ‘happiness pathway’ when substances are used regularly. So, in order to get that pleasure later on, the condition arises that we have to use the same things again. This will lead to great danger.

Avoiding addiction is the only way to avoid substance use problems. This disaster can be avoided through awareness, strong legal action and social intervention.
