Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains caused landslides at various places in Ponmudi. No casualties or damage were reported. The Wamanapuram river overflowed. A tree fell on the road near the Kallar Golden Valley check post and obstructed traffic. The power connection was cut off, including the posts.
The rescue operation is being carried out by the Vithura fire brigade, police, forest department officials and KSEB employees. Authorities warned residents on both sides of the Wamanapuram river to be extra vigilant.
