On the same day, in Wujiaying Village, Li County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, Zhu Daqing’s hometown, Zhu Daqing’s family and villagers gathered early to watch the game on TV and cheered for Zhu Daqing’s first medal in the Beijing Winter Paralympics.

Zhu Zeqiang, Zhu Daqing’s brother, said that his younger sister worked very hard since she was a child and was “particularly proud” of her winning the first medal at the Beijing Winter Paralympics. Zhu Xiaogen, Zhu Daqing’s father, said with a smile that he hoped his daughter would make persistent efforts to strive for greater achievements.

According to reports, Zhu Daqing, who was born in 1990, has shown athletic talent since he was a child. In 2003, Zhu Daqing, who was only 13 years old, was selected for the provincial team because of his fast sprint speed. In 2019, he was selected to the Chinese Paralympic Alpine Ski Team.

As the birthplace of Zhu Daqing, Baoding has trained 24 world champions, 32 Asian champions and 158 national champions, including 6 Olympic champions. In December 2021, the Chinese Olympic Committee awarded Baoding the “City of Olympic Champions” commemorative trophy. At the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Winter Olympics, 44 children from the Malanhua Children’s Choir of Fuping County showed the world the vigorous spiritual power of Xinbaoding in the new era with their natural children’s voices.
