Honda F1 Masashi Yamamoto MD, transfer to Red Bull is also an option?[F1-Gate .com]

Masashi Yamamoto, managing director of Honda F1, has not denied the possibility of transferring to Red Bull after Honda withdrew from F1.

Honda will withdraw from F1 for this season only, but the intellectual property rights of the engine will be transferred to Red Bull, and in 2022 Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri will be equipped with Honda’s F1 power unit without batch ..

“It certainly feels a little crazy,” Masashi Yamamoto told Formule 1.

“But the focus is on becoming a champion this year. Next year is next year.”

However, it is already known that Honda and Red Bull will continue to cooperate in an unobtrusive position, despite Honda officially withdrawing from F1.

“Personally, I think it’s a shame to withdraw,” said Masashi Yamamoto.

“At the same time, Honda Racing also understands that Honda as an automaker must be committed to becoming carbon neutral. This decision must be made as the process needs to be accelerated. did not”

However, in the future, Red Bull will manufacture the engine independently as Red Bull Powertrains. Rumor has it that Volkswagen may partner with a Red Bull team, while Masashi Yamamoto believes Honda’s return to F1 is still possible.

“I personally think Honda will return to F1,” said Masashi Yamamoto.

“Now Honda needs to focus on becoming CO2-neutral and accelerate the project. Hopefully there are people in the company who want to go back to F1.”

Some of the current Honda F1 staff are very likely to leave Honda and join Red Bull after 2022.

“From Honda’s point of view, the end of this year is the end of the project,” says Masashi Yamamoto.

“2022 is a transitional period for Red Bull and there are people left to get it out of Honda. The easiest way to explain it is to leave everyone in management like me or the marketing department. is”

“As a brand, Honda no longer visibly exists.”

But even Masashi Yamamoto is associated with the possibility of a transfer to Red Bull in 2022.

When asked if it could be clarified, Masashi Yamamoto commented, “Anyway, the first focus we have is to win the title.”

“That’s the priority. I won’t talk about other personal moves, but I’m thinking of a few things.”
