Hong Jin-ho, a former professional, poker player and broadcaster, once again won a huge prize in an international tournament.

Hong Jin-ho participated in the 12th ‘5000 Dollar Freezeout No Limit Hold’em’ event of the ‘2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP)’ held in Las Vegas, USA from the 4th (local time) to the 7th . He placed 4th out of 735 participants and won $208,158 in prize money.

On the 6th day, the 3rd day of the game, Hong Jin-ho started the game securing 1.28 million chips, lower than the average, but gradually increased to 6 million chips and was included in the last 4 players . He tried to win the championship, but lost a chip while defending against the aggressive play of the Japanese player, Nozomu Shimizu, and finished in 4th place.

Jeremy Eyer from the United States won the championship, and the prize money is about 650,000 dollars (848.9 million won). Felipe Ramos (Brazil) came in second and received around $400,000 (522.4 million won) in prize money. Nozomu, who stole Hong Jin-ho’s chip, finished third.

The WSOP is the most prestigious poker tournament in the world. Hong Jin-ho won his first WSOP championship last year. At that time, in the 76th event, he won first place among 865 participants and won $276,000 (360.45 million won) in prize money. His career WSOP prize money is $556,670 (727 million won). Hong Jin-ho appeared on MBC TV’s ‘Radio Star’ on the 24th of last month and revealed that he received more than 2 billion won in prize money from a poker tournament last year.
