A video of Silk Smitha sharing memories with her friend and actress Anuradha Silk is surfacing again on social media. Anuradha remembers in the video that the actor called her the day before her death and invited her to come home. But Anuradha said she heard the news that Silk had died the next morning. He also mentioned going to see the dead body of Silk Smitha.
“Silk Smitha called me the day before she died. He said he had something to say and came home quickly. It was then half past nine at night. So I asked if it would be enough to come tomorrow. Silk said then you have to come tomorrow morning. But the next morning on the television is the news of her death.
Satish (husband) and I went to Silk’s house as soon as we heard this news. Srividyamma was also there. When he reached inside, he said the body was taken to Vijaya Hospital. From there we immediately went to the hospital. The sight seen there that day was unbearable. She was kept in a corner structure of the hospital.
Her outfit was a midi and top. As we looked, her face was covered in flies. There was the fly on her face that many people wanted to see. Vidyamma and I ran and fetched a cloth and swatted the fly away.
I am only a friend of the silksmith. Never a very close friend. Silk doesn’t have such close friends. She kept a little distance from everyone. Anuradha said that she did not even open up to anyone about her problems.
Silk Smitha died in September 1996. In 2011, the film ‘The Dirty Picture’ was released with Vidya Balan as the heroine. Directed by Milan Luthria, the film is based on the life story of Silk Smitha.
