Huge tsunami erupts again on Tonga volcano

U.S. Alert Center “Detects Big Waves Generated Without Other Earthquakes”
Damage unknown… The direct and indirect damage from the tsunami three days ago is estimated at 80,000

Another large-scale volcanic eruption was observed near Tonga, an island nation in the South Pacific, AFP news agency reported on the 17th.

According to reports, an observatory in Darwin, Australia, detected a massive explosion around 11:10 a.m. local time in Tonga on the 17th.

The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said it had detected large waves in the area.

“It could be because of another eruption from the Tonga volcano,” the alert center said.

No damage has been reported from the eruption.

In Tonga, on the 15th, the Hunga Hapai volcano in Tonga, located 65 km north of the capital Nuku’alofa, erupted on the seabed.

Tonga was hit directly by a huge tsunami (tsunami), but no large-scale casualties have been confirmed so far.

However, Katie Greenwood, head of the Pacific delegation for the International Federation of Red Cross Society (IFRC), said in an interview with the BBC that up to 80,000 people in Tonga may have been affected by volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and flooding.
