Hurricane Fiona hits Canada; Warning | NRI

OTTAWA – Hurricane Fiona made landfall on Canada’s east coast on Saturday. Many people were moved to safe places due to strong winds. Trees fell in many places. Reuters reported that the power line was also damaged.

Landslides also occurred in some places in Nova Scotia. Fiona is currently a post-tropical cyclone. Maximum wind speed is 110-150 km/h. Officials said it was considered a category 1 cyclone.

Strong winds and rain disrupted power supply in places such as Nova Sotika and Prince Edward Island. Officials have warned that up to 10 inches of rain has fallen in some places and there is a possibility of flash floods.

Authorities have warned people on the Atlantic coast to be careful. There were earlier reports that this was the strongest hurricane in Canadian history.
