[TODAY스포츠=이서은 기자] The under-23 (U-23) soccer team, led by coach Hwang Seon-hong, won a huge victory over East Timor and ran for two consecutive victories.

The Korean U-23 national team won the 2022 Asian Football Federation (UFC) U-23 Asian Cup qualifier Group H match 6-0 against East Timor at the Jalan Besar Stadium on the 28th (Korean time).

Following the 3-0 victory over the Philippines on the 25th, they maintained their lead in the group with two consecutive wins.

Korea has a 4-3-3 formation. Goalkeeper Lee Kwang-yeon (Gangwon), Choi Jun (Busan), Cho Jin-woo (Daegu), Lim Deok-geun (Daejeon Hana Citizen), and Lee Kyu-hyeok (Chungnam Asan) built the fabric. Kwon Hyuk-gyu (Kim Cheon Sang-mu) – Koo Bon-cheol (Incheon) – Ko Jae-hyeon (Seoul E-Land) formed the midfield, and Park Jeong-in (Busan) – Kim Chan (Chungnam Asan) – Jo Sang-jun (Suwon) came forward as the offensive team.

At the beginning of the first half, Korea seemed to struggle a bit with East Timor’s stronger-than-expected pressure, but they quickly found pace.

The opening goal was scored in the 29th minute. The ball hit Chan Kim’s head and fell, and Park Jung-in immediately shot it and shook the net. Shortly thereafter, Jun Choi scored a fantastic mid-range goal to make it 2-0.

Korea continued to push. Park Jung-in took advantage of an opponent’s mistake and scored an additional goal, making it 3-0 in the first half.

Park Jung-in finished the third goal in the fourth minute of the second half, showing the climax of the goal sense.

Korea, who had been silent after that, added another goal with a sharp header shot from Hyun-kyu Oh, who came in as a substitute in the 37th minute.

Five minutes later, Se-yoon Kim scored an additional goal to finish the match with a score of 6-0 for Korea.

The national team, which secured at least 2nd place in the group, has the final match against Singapore at 9 pm on the 31st. Even a draw could be enough to secure the first place in the group.
