First of all, Hyundai Motor sold a total of 349,194 units in the global market last month, up 7.8% from the same period last year, including 68,680 units in Korea and 280,514 units overseas. Domestic sales and overseas sales increased by 8.4% and 7.7%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, Kia sold a total of 268,593 units, an increase of 14.4%, and in detail, ▲ domestic 50,275 ▲ foreign 217,772 ▲ 546 special units. Compared to May last year, domestic sales increased by 10.3% and overseas sales by 15.2%.
The three domestic mid-size car makers also recorded a good performance. GM Korea sold a total of 40,019 units last month, 4,758 units for domestic sales and 35,261 units for export. Compared to the same period last year, domestic demand and exports expanded by 71.9% and 172.7%, respectively, and in terms of total sales, they increased by 154.9%. Renault Korea sold a total of 15,154 units, up 76.4%, and KG Mobility sold a total of 9,860 units, up 19.1%.
However, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia’s individual system continued in May. This is because the share of the two companies based on total sales is 90.5%. In the case of the three medium-sized companies, ▲GM Korea 5.9% ▲Renault Korea 2.2% ▲KG Mobility 1.4%, a total of only 9.5%.
On the other hand, Hyundai Motor Company’s semi-large sedan Grandeur was the only one to sell more than 10,000 units last month.
