Hyundai Motor Company Asan Plant Temporarily Suspension of Production in January Next Year “Preparing for Electric Vehicle Production”

Hyundai Motor’s Asan plant in Chungcheongnam-do will close its doors for four weeks from January 3rd of the new year to prepare for electric vehicle production.

Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 30th that “production at the Asan plant will be suspended from January 3 to 28 for facility construction for electric vehicle production.” Hyundai Motor plans to resume production at its Asan plant on February 3 next year. The Asan plant stopped production for four weeks in July due to the construction of electric vehicle production facilities. Hyundai Motor plans to make internal combustion locomotives and electric vehicles together by partially adjusting existing lines without expanding new lines at the Asan plant. The Ioniq 6, which is scheduled to be released next year, is expected to be produced at the Asan plant. The Asan plant, which has an annual production capacity of about 300,000 vehicles, is currently producing the Sonata and Grandeur.
