The death of the late Chan-hee Lee, a Hyundai Motor Company designer.

And I have focused on the issue of suicide due to overwork.

After the MBC report came out, Hyundai Motor Company formed a separate external committee to investigate the situation, and today released the results.

Contrary to the company’s original position, it was confirmed that there was overwork due to overtime and workplace harassment such as insulting remarks.

Correspondent Hong Shin-young reported.

In the industrial accident application filed by the bereaved family of the late Chan-hee Lee, the disease judgment committee said that the working hours were normal.

However, the committee pointed out that there was overwork by revealing night, dawn, and weekend work that were not recorded in the official records through computer forensics, etc.

“Come brushing your teeth a little. There have been incidents like this… If you don’t straighten out your design, I’ll push you out of the window…”

I’ll push you out the window Although there was no evidence that remarks such as “I will send you to the basement” were made directly to the deceased, he pointed out that the remarks made by Lee Sang-yeop, the head of the center, were beyond the appropriate scope and could be clearly viewed as workplace bullying.

In the anonymous survey, among the 32 centers in Namyang Research Center, the design center where Chan-hee Lee worked had the most negative responses about organizational culture.

The committee also stated that the work characteristics of the Design Center are an environment that can increase stress.

This investigation was conducted for the first time among domestic companies after MBC reported on Lee Chan-hee, who made an extreme choice by complaining of overwork and workplace harassment.

“(History of work) This should have all been submitted to the Quality and Judgment Committee (Occupational Disease Adjudication Committee). It is to show that the quality panel was actually conducted without the company releasing such information.”

Hyundai Motor Company said that it would take the results of the investigation seriously and faithfully implement the recommendations. //
