Former India captain and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has challenged Virat Kohli to continue his streak in the longest format despite returning to form after a three-year slump. The last Test century was against Bangladesh in Kolkata in November 2019.

After enduring a tough spell as a batting and individual player in 2020 and 2021, Virat Kohli managed to return to form with a stunning century against Afghanistan in last year’s Asia Cup. After that, the player confirmed that he is the Kohli of old by scoring centuries in the ODI series as well.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who led India to a famous victory over Australia in 2001 in Australia’s four-Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has now spoken about the crucial run ahead with Kohli.

Virat Kohli is performing well. He performed well against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He needs to perform well in Test cricket as well as the Indian cricket team is depending on him. The Australian series is coming up soon and I expect it to be a very good one. I want India and Australia to play the World Test Championship final.

Talking about the upcoming 50-over World Cup that India will host later this year, he said that India can win the World Cup this year.
