A British woman in her 20s committed a crime by pouring sulfuric acid over her boyfriend thinking she was having an affair.

According to the Daily Mail, on the 19th (local time), the Harrow Crown Court sentenced 28-year-old Esther Afrifa, 28, to 14 years in prison for pouring sulfuric acid into her boyfriend thinking he was having an affair.

Afrifa suspected that her boyfriend Kelvin Fogo was having an affair with her friend, and in December 2019, bought a liter of sulfuric acid online and hid it at the bedside of his Wembley home in north London.

At around 3:30 am on December 22, Afrifa discovered that her boyfriend Kelvin Pogo was asleep and poured sulfuric acid into his upper body.

Pogo even called for help, unaware that it was the sulfuric acid that Afrifa had poured on him at first. Afrifa pretended to call the emergency number 999, preventing him from using his cell phone to ask friends for help. He also canceled a taxi that he called to go to the hospital.

Afrifa attacked again while Pogo was wounded and lying on the couch, pouring more sulfuric acid over his face and body.

Pogo screamed and ran out of the apartment, where with the help of a passerby he was taken to the hospital.

According to the Daily Mail, Afrifa was found and arrested by police while wandering a nearby alley.

According to police investigations, Afrifa tried to make Pogo drink sulfuric acid, but after learning that he did not trust the tap water, Afrifa changed his plans.

Fogo, studying film in England, suffered traumatic and permanent trauma to his eyes, head and face.

“Every day I wake up it’s like the day she attacked me. I’m afraid that if someone knocks on the door someone will hurt me,” Pogo said. “I don’t understand why she did this to me.”

Local investigators noted that it is highly likely that Afrifa will be deported to Ghana even after being released from prison.
