A two-year-old baby died of a drug overdose in Longarone, north-east Italy.

According to Italian daily Corriere della Sera on the 4th (local time), police are investigating the death of 2-year-old Niccolò Paltrin’s father, Diego, 43, on charges of manslaughter.

Diego, jack lumber, went to the hospital’s emergency room with the baby in his arms on the evening of July 28. The baby, who had already had a weak heartbeat, was pronounced dead that night.

Diego claimed that the police questioned him when he saw the baby put something in his mouth in a park near his house and that he spat it out, but he did not wake up after falling asleep.

However, despite the police even deploying a poison investigation team to thoroughly search the park, no suspicious substances were found.

An autopsy revealed shocking facts. The cause of death was found to be a high dose of hashish, which is Indian marijuana.

In addition, a test of the baby’s hair revealed cocaine and heroin. An autopsy also suggested that the baby may have been taking cocaine and heroin in recent months.

After searching the family’s home, the police found hashish, cocaine and heroin which were found in the baby’s body throughout the house. Hashish was found in a cup on the table next to the crib.

The police found that the baby had swallowed the parent’s drug and charged his father Diego with manslaughter.

Diego responded to the police’s resistance, but appeared with his hair shaved to destroy evidence, as if expecting a drug test.

The mother, who was at work at the time of the baby’s death, refused to comply with the police summons, the media reported.
