(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Choi In-young = Professional baseball coach Matt Williams of KIA Tigers predicted that the first win of’super rookie’ Lee Eui-ri (19) depends on a fastball.

Coach Williams expected that starting pitcher Lee Eui-ri before confronting the LG Twins at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 22nd, “If the fastball game goes well from the beginning, we will be able to show good results.”

He also emphasized, “It has been shown that the right-hander’s fastball is working well. Today, if the fastball is good, you can effectively throw other pitches. That’s an important requirement.”

Lee Eui-ri, from Gwangju Il High School, is a special rookie who was first nominated by KIA.

Lee Eui-ri, who received a lot of expectations just for being a left-handed pitcher throwing a fast fastball, raised his expectations with a zero-run streak at the spring camp, and received a lot of attention as he was selected as the second starter of KIA.

Lee Eui-ri, who failed to win the previous two starts, showed the best pitching with 6⅔innings, 4 hits (1 home run), 1 walk, 5 strikeouts and 1 run point at the 3rd opportunity against LG.

He threw 89 balls and had 47 fastballs. The maximum speed for a fastball was recorded at 149 km/h.

As coach Williams predicted, Lee Eui-ri ruled the LG line with a fastball in the early stages.

If you look at the KBO STATS application record, Lee Eui-ri threw only 10 fastballs while dealing with three batters at the end of the first inning.

At the end of the 2nd inning, Roberto Ramos and Yoo Gangnam were caught with 6 fastballs, then dazzled Jung Joo-hyun with 2 changeups, and induces a missed swing strikeout with a direct ball.

Lee Eui-ri, who pushed the flag of other LG players with a fastball, threw a mix of change-ups, sliders, curves, and other fastballs.

At the end of the 3rd inning, 4 of the 13 pitches were changed, but at the end of the 4th, the ratio of the changeup and slider was higher than that of the fastball.

He threw 4 changeups against Hyungjong Lee and then threw a fastball, but it was unfortunately a hit.

Lee Eui-ri made a three-way inning with two strikeouts at the end of the 6th inning, but after two deaths at the end of the 7th inning, Kim Min-sung hit a solo shooter for the first time and was replaced by Park Jun-pyo.

Lee Eui-ri, who met the victory requirements, smiled and descended from the mound. Standing ovation broke out in the audience.

Afterwards, the bullpen allowed a 2-2 tie at the end of the 8th inning, and Lee Eui-ri’s victory flew away.

However, with Ryu Ji-hyuk’s final stroke at the beginning of the 10th inning, KIA won 3-2, and Lee Eui-ri was selected as the distinguished player.

Lee Eui-ri said, “It’s okay” for the first victory of his debut.

Although he couldn’t be a winning pitcher, he said, “It doesn’t matter if you have a good throw and meet the winning requirements, even if you don’t win.”

When asked the reason for the head-to-head game with a fastball in the beginning, Lee Eui-ri replied, “It wasn’t planned, it was thrown as signed.”

Lee Eui-ri threw it with pride in her fastball. He showed confidence, saying, “I thought (my fastball) worked because there was something I showed so far.”

Director Williams was also satisfied with Lee Eui-ri’s fastball.

After the game, coach Williams said, “Starting Eui-ri Lee had a really good pitch.”

Fans were also fascinated by Lee Eui-ri’s fastball and gave generous encouragement. Lee Eui-ri joked, “I’m worried that there will be no sound later.”
