The Taipei Planetarium pointed out that C/2021 A1 (Leonard) was discovered by GJ Leonard, a researcher at the University of Arizona, through the Mount Leman Observatory on January 3 this year. The current total brightness is only about 11 levels. It will be the closest to the earth and the brightest on December 13, 2021. It is roughly estimated that the total brightness will reach 1.9 by that time. It may be the brightest comet in 2021, and there is a chance to see it with the naked eye before dawn.

Nanying Planetarium added that the “C” in the name of the comet indicates that it is a non-periodic comet or has a period of more than 200 years. The Nanying Planetarium mentioned that the current brightness of the comet is about 7 to 8, moving from the constellation Canis to the constellation of Boves, and can be photographed with a large telescope in the early morning before sunrise.
