Dunkin, run by BR Korea, a subsidiary of SPC Group, launched a new donut and attracted attention by employing a YouTuber Grandmother Mak-rye, a YouTuber with 1.32 million subscribers, as an advertising model.

According to Dunkin on the 3rd, the newly released ‘Donut of the Month for September’ features a reinterpretation of traditional flavors such as black sesame seeds, whole red beans, and bean sprouts so that young people can also enjoy them. It introduced black sesame pretzels and injeolmi latte that melted the trend of ‘grandmothers’ (grandmothers + millennials: preference for food and fashion preferences of grandmothers).

The company explained, “We launched these new products reflecting the trend of grandparents in celebration of the Chuseok holiday.

In a video of a filming sketch released by Dunkin on the 1st of this month, Grandmother Mak-rye, who appeared in the advertisement wearing a hip-hop style headband and a black leather jacket, said, “This is goat dung and cow dung. It’s soft to the touch, and it’s nice to the touch.” He gave a laugh by introducing black sesame pretzels with candid words.

Then, when the production team asked how they felt about becoming a Dunkin model, they said, “It’s the first time in my life, is it really good or bad? It was great,” he added. Graffiti artist J-Flow captured the advertisement image of Grandmother Mak-rye wearing a black sesame pretzel in a trendy way.

In addition to black sesame pretzel and injeolmi latte, Dunkin also introduced olive rye pretzel, Jeju Matcha Cream Field, Ang Butter Duel Field, and Injeolly Chewy Munchkin as a new menu in September.

A Dunkin official said, “We have launched a product that targets the taste of grandparents to make the upcoming Chuseok holiday more special. We hope to see new Dunkin products that the whole family can enjoy.”
