Amitabh Bachchan said that he was the first choice to play the lead in Jaya Bachchan’s first film, but he was left out for some reasons. The actor also said that while acting in that film, he had acted in another film with Rajesh Khanna. He said these things in the program Kon Baneka Korpati
‘In Jaya’s first film, I was chosen as the hero. I acted in that film for ten days. But after that Pokolaan told me that I should not act anymore. At that time I was acting in the film Anand with Rajesh Khanna. The director told me to opt out of the film as he was not interested in competing with this film. He told me about that later,’ said Amitabh Bachchan.
Although they could not act together in the first film, later Amitabh acted as Jaya’s hero. After that, the two appeared together in many films. With this they both fell in love. After the movie Sanjeer released in 1973, they got married. The film was a huge success.
In another episode of the same show, Amitabh also spoke about his life with Jaya Bachchan. Amitabh said he fasted during Karva Chauth, a ritual observed by women in North India for their husbands. He said that he fasted like this during the last few days of his marriage with Jaya and it ended after a few years.
“After my marriage with Jaya, I attended a Karva Chauth function. As part of it, I also fasted. Women generally observe this fast. Still I took it. This type of ceremony was observed in the first days after the wedding. After a few years, it all came to an end,’ says Amitabh Bachchan.
