“I was talking on the phone, ‘kung’…there was no answer” The deceased nurse, boyfriend’s ‘burn’ testimony

[이데일리 권혜미 기자] A boyfriend’s testimony came out that a nurse at Eulji University Hospital in Uijeongbu, who made an extreme choice due to so-called ‘burning’ (group bullying experienced by nurses), was habitually insulted and assaulted.

According to YTN on the 27th, boyfriend B, who last spoke with the deceased nurse A (24), testified in detail about the bullying that Mr. A experienced while working at the hospital.

He said, “(Mr. A) suffered from repeated night and night shifts, and could not eat properly, so he was getting thinner day by day. One time, he threw a ballpoint pen and hit him in the face,” he said.

Mr. B, who was concerned, said to Mr. A, “Stop it. Let’s also get treatment for depression.” However, Mr. A, who had a strong desire to work as a nurse, wanted to hold on to fill his one-year career. In addition, if medical records remain, I was worried that I could be harmed if I worked in the nursing field, and I could not quit my job.

However, as the transfer to another ward failed, Mr. A finally decided to quit his job. However, when he heard from his boss, “I will be leaving the company in 60 days,” he became frustrated, and Mr. B said, “Since then, Mr. B said, ‘I don’t want to go to work, I just want to die’ to the fact that he doesn’t even send me out of the office, but he doesn’t even let me leave.” recalled

Also, recalling the time when Mr. B was having a video call with Mr. A, Mr. B said, “There was a sound of ‘thump’ and there was no answer. I left a message asking my classmate to check it out, but he didn’t know exactly what house (Mr. A) lived in. Knocking on the door (with a sound) saying here… ‘ he said, blurring the end of his speech.

Finally, Mr. B pointed out that it was the hospital’s problem that forced Mr. A to make a tragic choice and said, “The only thing I can do for Mr. A is to receive a sincere apology from the hospital. I will watch the police investigation and fact-finding results until the end,” he said.

Earlier, on the 16th, about nine months after joining Eulji Hospital in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do, Mr. A committed suicide in the hospital dormitory. According to the bereaved family, it was revealed that Mr. A was suffering from workplace harassment and unbearable work.

In response, the hospital requested the police to investigate on the 20th to find out the truth about the case, and the police started an investigation to see if there was any harassment in the hospital. The Ministry of Employment and Labor is also investigating violations of the Labor Standards Act based on the contract between the hospital and Mr. A.
