IBK Industrial Bank of Korea has requested disciplinary action from the Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) Reward and Punishment Committee for setter Jo Song-hwa, who left the team. Furthermore, Rebecca Lassem (USA), who has judged her skills to be poor, is also replaced by Dali Santana (USA).

IBK announced on the 27th, “We have formally submitted a disciplinary request to the KOVO Reward and Punishment Committee on the 26th, and we plan to review additional measures of the club itself based on the disciplinary results of the reward and punishment committee.”

The IBK setter Jo Song-hwa recently left the team and tried to arbitrarily terminate the team, but the player himself refused to do so, causing controversy.

In the end, the club decided to leave the judgment of the players to the KOVO reward and punishment committee after much consideration.

In addition, IBK expressed its position that it will take follow-up measures as soon as the appointment of a new manager is completed for coach Kim Sani, who has been criticized by fans after leaving the team and returning to acting as manager.

The club explained, “Acting staff Kim Sani, who is inevitably in charge of the team temporarily for normal league participation and team operation, will take appropriate measures as soon as the appointment of a manager is completed.”

Furthermore, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea announced the replacement of mercenaries. He said it was difficult to digest the rest of the season with Lassem, so he signed a contract with Santana from the United States.

Santana has played in the Turkish league and is expected to play a variety of roles as she can play both right and left positions. Santana will join the team from the 3rd round after self-isolation.

Meanwhile, on the 22nd, IBK appointed a vice-president who was sensitive to the vacant head of the volleyball team as the new head.

The club said, “In relation to this situation, we are taking seriously the issues such as discord within the team and the unauthorized departure of players.” “In order to restore the trust of fans, centering on the new general manager, we will improve the structure of the club, such as communication and operating system within the team, and fundamentally renovate it. We will do it quickly,” he said.

IBK Industrial Bank of Korea added that it will conduct a counseling program with a professional psychological counselor, stating that many players are suffering emotional pain and wounds as a result of this incident in relation to player protection.

The club said, “Once again, we deeply apologize for this situation, and we earnestly ask for your continued support for the club’s efforts and measures for the development of women’s volleyball and the normalization of the club.”
