Dubai: The ICC T20 squad for 2021 has been announced. The team, captained by Pakistan captain Babar Azam, has three players each from Pakistan and South Africa, two each from Australia, and one each from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and England. There are no Indian players in the team.

England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan are the openers in the ICC T20 squad. When Captain Babar Azam arrives in one down, number four is South Africa’s Aiden Markram. Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and South African David Miller are in the batting line-up.

Australia’s Josh Hazelwood, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman and Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi were the pacers, while spinners Vanindu Hazareka of Sri Lanka and Tabriz Shamsi of South Africa were the other pacers.

The ICC team was selected based on their performance in the T20 World Cup and other matches last year. India were knocked out in the first round of the T20 World Cup. Apart from India, not a single player from the New Zealand team that played in the T20 World Cup final has been named in the ICC squad.
