ICC Test Ranking: Williamson hits back, Jadeja, Latham, Jameson gain; The new test rankings are as follows

Dubai: New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has suffered a setback in the ICC Test Rankings. Williamson was second before the first Test against India. But after a poor performance in the Kanpur Test, he dropped to third. Williamson scored 14 in the first inning and 24 in the second inning. With this, Steven Smith, who was in the third position, moved up to the second position. England captain Joe Root was first.

Tom Latham, meanwhile, scored a half-century (95 & 52) in both innings against India in Kanpur. Latham, who climbed five steps, is now ranked ninth. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who missed the Kanpur Test, retained their fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Australia’s Marcus Labushan remains in fourth place. Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne was seventh. The player improved four places. He also scored a half-century in the first Test against the West Indies. Pakistan captain Babur Assam is eighth. David Warner is 10th behind Latham.

The top four positions in bowling remain unchanged. Australian captain Pat Cummins remains first. Indian spinner R Ashwin, Kiwis pacer Tim Southee and Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood are in the top four. Shaheen Afridi, who improved three places, finished fifth.

Kiwis pacer Neil Wagner finished sixth. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and English veteran pacer James Anderson are seventh and eighth respectively. Kiwis’ Kyle Jaimison, meanwhile, improved six places to ninth. He took six wickets in two innings in the Kanpur Test.

India’s Ravindra Jadeja is second in the all-rounders’ rankings. R Ashwin is in third position. Jadeja is ranked 19th in the bowlers’ rankings. Shreyas Iyer, who scored a century in his debut Test, is ranked 74th. Shubhman Gill, who improved six places, is 66th.
