Idukki Dam likely to open today The district administration has given permission to open the shutters of the Cheruthoni dam in case the water level rises.
When the water level reaches 2399.03 feet, a red alert will be declared in the dam and the water will be released. The final decision will be taken today based on the rainfall and the flow of water to the dam. Currently, the water level in the dam is 2398.46 feet.
Those on the banks of the Periyar have been warned to be vigilant.

Meanwhile, the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam is rising. The water level reached 139.35 feet. The flow of water to the dam is strong. 3967 cubic feet of water flowing into the dam per second. Tamil Nadu carries 467 cubic feet of water. According to the rule curve, the maximum water storage capacity of the dam is 141 feet.
