“If you want support, you can debate after the election”

[서울시장 후보 릴레이 인터뷰] Ahn Chul-soo, Representative of the National Assembly Party

Ahn Cheol-soo, the representative of the National Assembly Party (left), who ran for the 4/7 Seoul Mayor’s by-election, is looking at the commercial district along with merchants in Itaewon Station, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, including Kang Won-rae, a former singer clone. CEO Ahn, who proposed the’Open Platform Competition’ to the people’s strength, said in an interview with the Dong-A Ilbo that day, “What is the use of the people’s strength over Ahn Cheol-soo and losing to Moon Jae-in regime? Don’t try to keep only your support,” he warned. Reporter Jang Seung-yoon [email protected]

“The’Open Platform Competition’ (which I proposed) gave the people an opportunity to expand their power to become a mass political party. Chairman Kim Jong-in wins the election only when he does not try to protect his own supporter among all opposition parties, but does big politics.”

In an interview with the Dong-A Ilbo on the 20th, Ahn Chul-soo, the head of the National Assembly Party, set a day for the unification of the opposition candidates for the Seoul Mayor, which he suggested, as “sounds like fat,” by the power of the people, Kim Jong-in. The day before, Ahn suggested a unification plan in which opposition candidates, including himself and former lawmaker Geum Tae-seop, were not admitted and participated in the People’s Power contest.

Representative Ahn, who usually has a calm expression and tone, poured out criticism, saying, “You should know that this is an election to save the Republic of Korea,” and “it is ridiculous to join,” with a recalled face when referring to the unification discussion that has not made progress. Still, he did not deny the possibility of consolidation between the two parties after the 4-7 by-election, saying, “If the will of the supporters gathers, we must follow it.” The following is one question and one answer with CEO Ahn.

○ “If we discuss unification in March, it is difficult to agree”

―Chairman Kim said, “After the candidates for each party are elected, they can be unified before the candidate registration in March. CEO Ahn is impatient.” Why do you want to start the discussion now? “If you lose this election, the presidential election is difficult. It is much more difficult than other elections. In the future, passports will go unnoticed as they can explicitly intervene in the elections, such as’vaccination show’,’disaster support payment of 2 million won per household,’ and’Shi Jinping visit to Korea show’. If discussions begin in early March, it may become difficult to agree. Then the support base is scattered and the election is lost.” ―Criticism of the proposal that the’Multilateral Open Platform Competition’ is advantageous to CEO Ahn comes from the power of the people… .

“Isn’t the power of the people asking me to join me? Even if I join, it becomes a multilateral composition in which I confront several candidates for the strength of the people. That makes no sense. Isn’t it just necessary to start the consultation and discuss the method that Chairman Kim thinks, including my proposal (the unified final in March).”

-There is a strong offensive, such as Chairman Kim criticizing Representative Ahn saying “I can’t feel it”.

“(After thinking for a moment) I am fighting the Moon Jae-in regime, but it seems that he is fighting Ahn Cheol-soo. Chairman Kim’s remarks are viewed as having strategic remarks from the position of the first opposition party rather than the entire opposition. Why are you trying to keep the original (support) without seeing the entire opposition, that is not good from the standpoint of the people’s strength. I will look forward to great politics and wait.”

―Isn’t it realistic for the people’s strength and the People’s Party to elect candidates because they are worthy?

“There are supporters of the people’s strength, but on the other hand, there are people who don’t support the people’s strength even though they don’t like the Democratic Party. You need both to win.”

―After the 4th and 7th election, it will be the presidential election soon, but can’t we be worthy at that time to win the presidential election?

“When thoughts are gathered in the direction the supporters want, it is the politician’s role to follow it. The opinions of the opposition supporters are the most important. What is clear is that we will run a coalition regime that hires good talents from all of the opposition parties to work together.”

○ “Suk-yeol Yoon is an opposition leader… If you work faithfully, the people are recognized”

―After the election, as an opposition leader, who do you plan to help, including former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol in the presidential election?

“Of course I will challenge the succession of Seoul Mayor, but focusing on my work is the way to help the opposition.”

―I don’t see any presidential runners who can help now.

“(I shake my head sharply) ha ha ha.”

―President Moon Jae-in said to Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol that he “will not think about politics”… .

“President Moon always speaks and acts differently after giving a’cooperative’ speech, the Democratic Party pushing the bill, talking about’national integration,’ and separating doctors and nurses. You can also interpret the words about Yoon as the opposite. The expectations of those who are disappointed with the current government are gathered in one person, and the president cannot tailor the opinions of the people.”

―Is it possible to do politics with President Yoon to change the regime? .

“President Yoon is a’opposition greeting’ from the whole frame. I am determined to do politics, but if I am faithful to my role during my tenure, I will be recognized by the people.”
