Ihu variant: No worries: Experts | Kerala | Deshabhimani

Health experts say there is no cause for concern, although a variant of Kovid’s Ihu has been found in France along with Omicron. “Ihu is a variant that is not even considered a World Health Organization variant of concern,” he said.

According to international media reports, Ihu was confirmed in France in mid-November, even before Omikron. The variant name is B.1.640.2. Ihu was discovered by a team at the Hospital Institute Institute (IHU) of the University of Mediterranean in France. Currently, about forty – six genetic variants have been identified in the virus’ genome. At Omikron it was ‌ 30. The World Health Organization (WHO) has not included it in the Kovid variant list, as it has not been shown to be as serious as the Delta and Omicron variants. If included, it will be given a new name from the Greek alphabet

Kovid‌ increases

An increase in the number of Kovid patients in the state due to anxiety. On Wednesday, 4801 people were diagnosed with the disease. In Ernakulam, the number of patients exceeds one thousand daily. 1081 people have the disease here. A total of 3,640 people were infected on Tuesday and 2,560 on Monday. 1813 people became ill on Wednesday. This brings the current number of cases to 22,910. Nine percent of them are in hospital.

71,098 samples were tested. 29 deaths confirmed to be Kovid. The total number of Kovid deaths was 48,895, including 229 on appeal. In six wards of five local bodies, the proportion of sick population is above 10 per week.
