In 2002, the attackers were taught a lesson; BJP has established peace in Gujarat: Amit Shah – Amit Shah | Gujarat Election 2022

Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said anti-social elements are involved in Congress-backed violence in Gujarat. But he said that in 2002, the aggressors were taught a lesson and the BJP established peace in the state. He was addressing a rally in Mahudha town in Kheda district ahead of the assembly elections in December.

The Union Minister’s comments refer to the riots that broke out in Gujarat following the burning of a train at Godhra railway station in February 2002. “Communal riots were common in Gujarat during the Congress rule (before 1995). The Congress had encouraged people from different communities and castes to fight against each other. “Through such riots, the Congress has strengthened its vote bank and done injustice to a large section of the society,” said Amit Shah.

He also claimed that Gujarat saw riots in 2002 because of the support it got from the Congress, attackers resorted to violence. “But after teaching them a lesson in 2002, they left the path of violence. Between 2002 and 2022 they refrained from participating in violence. “BJP has established peace in Gujarat by taking strict action against those indulging in communal riots,” he added. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for abrogating Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah accused the Congress of opposing it because of vote bank.
