RIYADH: The Public Transport Authority is nationalizing the jobs of heavy vehicle drivers in Saudi Arabia. The Public Transport Authority said it had signed an agreement with a holding company for this purpose. The project is part of making the natives eligible to work in the transport logistics sector.
The project also aims to reduce the unemployment rate in the country. The agreement also aims to improve labor standards. The authority hopes that this will ensure the development of logistics services and economic sustainability. Candidates selected for heavy driver jobs will be free for driving training, medical examination and issuance of driving license. The authority also elaborated that the salary support will come from the Human Resources and Social Development Fund.
