District Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Ashrafunnahar Rita gave this order on Sunday afternoon.
Zainab Begum, wife of one Abdul Khalek of Brindabanpur, Nazirpur Union of Upazila, filed the case in Gurdaspur Amli Court as the plaintiff on November 30 last year. Nazrul Islam Gurdaspur Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary and resident of Gopinathpur area of the same upazila.
Court Inspector Rafiqul Islam confirmed that the accused was sent to jail.
He told the daily newspaper, ‘Awami League leader Nazrul Islam took two and a half lakh taka from the plaintiff Zainab Begum for giving a house in the shelter project along the river in Gopinathpur Madhyapara of Nazirpur Union. But Nazrul refused to give him the money on November 28 last year when he asked for the money back as he did not get the house. Later on November 30, the victim filed the case. When he came to the court hearing in this case, the court did not grant Nazrul bail and sent him to prison.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gurdaspur Police Station, Abdul Matin told Ajker newspaper, “Though the names of two persons were mentioned in the complaint, the name of one person was omitted after the investigation. If the accused appeared in court today, the court ordered him to be sent to prison.
