As the stock market plummeted in the new year, the market caps of the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets declined by nearly 175 trillion won in January.
According to the Korea Exchange, the combined market cap of the KOSPI and KOSDAQ as of yesterday (28th), the last stock opening day in January, was 2475.1 trillion won, a decrease of 6.59% in one month.
The KOSPI closed at 2663.34 and fell 314.31 points in one month, while the KOSDAQ fell from 1033.98 to 872.87.
Analysts say that the decline has widened as foreigners sell stocks on fears of US Federal Reserve tightening.
