Two police officers who responded poorly at the scene of the ‘knife riot of noise between floors’ in Incheon were dismissed.

The Incheon Police Agency held a disciplinary committee on the 30th and announced that they had dismissed police officers A and B from Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station, respectively.

Disciplinary action for police officers is divided into heavy disciplinary measures such as dismissal, dismissal, demotion, and suspension, and light disciplinary measures such as wage reduction and reprimand. Dismissal is a disposition to forcibly retire a public official. A person subject to disciplinary action cannot be appointed as a public official for a certain period of time.

The Incheon Office explained the reason for disciplinary action against them, saying, “As a result of the inspection, it was confirmed that they had responded poorly, such as leaving the scene without immediate on-site measures such as stopping the crime and providing relief to victims.”

The two police officers were criticized by public opinion for leaving their seats after failing to prevent the damage when a knife riot caused by noise between floors occurred at a villa in Seochang-dong, Incheon on the 15th. The Incheon Office immediately inspected them and fired them on the 24th.

The police are also continuing their investigation into a case in which a civic group accused these officers of negligence. Separately, the Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office also seized and searched the homes of the two police officers on the 26th and is investigating whether there were any suspicions of negligence in the course of their response.
