India to buy Rs 20,000 crore aircraft from Spain; Agreement signed | National | Deshabhimani

New Delhi: India has signed a Rs 20,000 crore deal to buy Airbus C295MW aircraft to replace the Air Force ‘Avro ‘748 cargo aircraft. India buys 56C295 MW aircraft from Spanish Airbus Defense and Space. India will get 16 flights in 48 months.

The remaining 40 aircraft will be manufactured in India in 10 years through technology transfer. Tata Consortium to manufacture aircraft C295MW aircraft can carry five to ten tons of weight. The aircraft also has the facility to paradrop the troops and cargo. Airstrips are enough to take off and land on a plane that is expected to be strong enough for the military to deal with emergencies.
