India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI: India set a target of 263 for victory against hosts in the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 262 for nine in the allotted 50 overs. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat.
Chamika Karunaratne’s performance from the tail end in the final overs helped Sri Lanka cross the 250 mark. Karuna Ratne scored 43 not out off 35 balls. He scored 19 runs in the last over alone. No one else in the Sri Lankan line-up could complete 50 runs.

Avishka Fernando (32 off 35 balls) and Minod Bhanuka (27 off 44 balls) were the main contributors. Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 24 off 22 balls, Dhananjaya D’Silva 14 off 27 balls and Charith Asalanka 38 off 65 balls. Skipper Dhasun Shanaka scored 39 off 50 balls. Wahindu Hasaranga and Isiru Udana were out for eight while Dushmantha Chameera was dismissed for 13 in the last over.
For India, Deepak Chahar, Yusvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each. Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya took one wicket each. Dushmantha Chameera was run out by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
